Booking expert Loveland maids to help with your cleaning can be the leg up you need to keep your home in order.  Whether it is a recurring cleaning or just a one time deep cleaning to earn back some of your time, we are here to help you out.

Read on to learn more about tips to help keep your dishes consistently clean and organized, whether you use a dishwasher or like to clean dishes by hand.

How often should I do the dishes?

Unless you live alone and are really tidy, you probably have dishes piling up consistently each day.  Similar to cleaning your food pantry, dealing with dishes is a combination of clutter control and efficient cleaning techniques.  When cleaning up after a get together, dishes can be a nightmare to deal with.  You can use some of our tips to not only help with dishes after a party, but getting your whole home back in shape quickly.

Unless you rarely cook and use your kitchen, you will need to deal with dishes multiple times per day.  This does not necessarily mean that you need to fully clean your dishes after each kitchen use, but you should be conscious of organizing your dirty dishes throughout the day.  This will help to keep the dish clutter to a minimum, make your kitchen space more organized, and allow for easier washing of dishes when it is time.

Some helpful habits that you can adopt include:

  • Rinse dishes and glasses immediately after use and put in the sink or dishwasher
  • Do not leave dishes or glasses scattered throughout other areas of the home
  • Fully wash and store away pots and pans that will not be run through the dishwasher
  • Discard of food scraps immediately
  • Rinse and organize cookware actively while cooking to reduce the post cooking mess

Is it better to use the dishwasher?

Doing dishes by hand vs the dishwasher depends on many factors.  If you have a modern dishwasher that requires little to no pre-rinse of the dishes, the dishwasher may be the most efficient way to clean.  These newer dishwashers may actually even save you water over doing the dishes by hand, assuming you do not need to do a thorough pre-rinse.

If you have a large family that generates a full load of dishes after each meal, the dishwasher can also be really efficient to use.  But just like anything, even if you are efficient and diligent about loading up the dishwasher after each meal, you still can not put off the task of unloading it.

Some dishwasher tips include:

  • Rinse your dishes as minimally as possible to save time and water
  • Run the dishwasher ahead of meals so you have clean dishes to use (and you don’t generate a second set of dish mess)
  • Be proactive about unloading the dishwasher to minimize clutter
  • Designate unloading the dishwasher as a family chore

If you don’t have a dishwasher, depending on how many dishes you go through in a day, it may be possible to only need to do the dishes once a day.  The most helpful thing will be to do a pre-rinse after each meal, so when it is time to do the full dishwashing, the dishes won’t have caked on food, debris, or grease.

How can I enlist the help of my family?

A great way to make dishwashing more efficient is to have your family help out with the dishes.  Get everyone in a habit of either putting their dishes directly into the dishwasher after each use or rinsing their dish so it is ready to be hand washed later in the day.  Don’t tolerate leaving dishes scattered throughout the house or letting food and debris sit on the dishes all day long.

You can reward your family’s efforts to keep the dishes clean with a trip to Loveland Laser Tag for a fun and active afternoon.  It will take some time to get everyone on board with cleaning up after each meal, but once it is instilled as a habit that everyone needs to adhere to, it shouldn’t be an issue.
