Microfiber cloths are some of the best cleaning tools available, however, the characteristics that make them so effective at cleaning can also attract unwanted lint and debris that can get stuck on the cloth. Effectively cleaning and washing the cloths will help keep these tools working as effectively as possible to thoroughly clean your home.Â
As the top Loveland CO maid service, we know a thing or two about washing our microfiber rags clean, and getting rid of unwanted stuck on lint and debris. Keep reading on to learn how to easily solve this common problem!
How can I keep lint and debris from building up on my microfiber rags?
From cleaning your bathroom accessories to the microwave in the kitchen, microfiber rags are some of the best all around cleaning supplies to have on hand. While the magnet-like properties of a microfiber cloth are great for cleaning, they can attract extra lint and debris during washing and drying that can be pretty annoying!Â
If you are consistently dealing with this issue, you can use some of the following simple tips to help reduce lint and debris buildup on your microfiber cloths. Â
Hand wash your rags
While this will be an extra cleaning step, it is pretty easy to do. Instead of washing your rags in the washing machine, simply soak them in a bucket of soap and water to help loosen up any debris. Then hand wash them further and let them hang dry.Â
Do a separate machine washing and dryingÂ
If the cloths are free of lint and debris after cleaning, but you have trouble with the cloths picking up extra lint and debris during normal laundry, you can try to wash them separately from anything else. This will prevent excess lint being picked up from other clothes, towels or sheets in the washing machine and dryer.Â
Use a lint roller or brush
If you have just done laundry, and your microfiber cloths came out with extra lint and debris, try to use a lint roller or a soft brush to get it off. You can also try to use a ball of masking tape to pick up the lint from the rag.Â
Use a short fiber microfiber cloth
The longer the fibers are on your cloth, the more likely they will be to pick up extra debris and lint. These types of cloths are typically used for polishing and buffing, such as when washing the exterior of a car. For in home cleaning use, a shorter fiber cloth will be sufficient, or even a waffle pattern cloth. These shorter fiber rags will not have the ability to pick up as much debris and lint, but will still be very effective for most home cleaning needs.Â
