How to Use a Toothbrush for Cleaning

Toothbrushes are a cleaners best friend.

There are many tools to clean a home, but one of the best, tried and true items, is your standard toothbrush.  Instead of throwing your brush out, keep it for cleaning!  Read on for some of the many uses of toothbrushes in house cleaning.

Grout

Toothbrushes work really well on grout.  Use your solution of choice (a vinegar, baking soda, and water mixture is a great all natural option) and start scrubbing!  Bleach can also be used for really tough grout stains and scrubbing.

Faucets

A toothbrush will help to get hard to reach spots around the faucet.  A simple soap and water solution will work well to help clean it up.  Polish the area up afterwards with a clean and dry microfiber cloth.

Household Vents

Vents in the household can quickly get gunked up with dust, grime, and debris.  Use a damp toothbrush to scrub the vent free of caked on gunk.

Refrigerator

A clean rag will do wonders in a refrigerator, but for the hard to reach corners and edges, a toothbrush will be better. Scrub as needed and wipe away all the debris with a clean cloth.  Read this post for tips on deep refrigerator cleaning.

Sink Edges and Drains

Like inside a refrigerator, a toothbrush will get the edges and corners of sinks and drains much better than with a rag.  Use is to reach areas that are too small for your fingers to scrub with a rag, using a cleaning solution of your choice.

Wall Stains and Marks

Try the toothbrush with some toothpaste to scrub away marks on the wall.  You can also spray the wall with vinegar and apply baking soda, then scrub it with the toothbrush.  Once the stain has been removed, dry and wipe the area with a clean cloth.
