The light fixtures in your bathroom are another piece of the puzzle to get a full bathroom cleaning taken care of. A full home cleaning in Fort Collins will not be complete without a sparkling clean bathroom.

Fortunately, cleaning your light fixtures is quite easy, and doesn’t always need to be taken care of each time you clean your bathroom.

Read on to learn more about cleaning this area of the bathroom, as we’ll give you a few tips to make the process quick and efficient. If you are still too pressed for time to clean the lights in your bathroom but can not convince yourself to bring in the pros for extra help, check out all the reasons to have a one time deep clean booked in your home

How should I clean the light fixtures in the bathroom?

Luckily, unlike cleaning your shower or toilet, your light fixtures are pretty quick to clean. Additionally, depending on your home, they probably won’t need to be cleaned as often either.

Cleaning your light fixtures will make your bathroom brighter and a more pleasant space. To get started cleaning the light fixtures, do the following:

  • Turn off your lights and give the light bulbs time to cool.
  • Take off any light covers or shades that can be removed from the lights. Put the covers in a sink filled with warm soapy water. You may need to soak these in your kitchen sink if your bathroom sink is too small.
  • After the shades have soaked for a few minutes, use a microfiber cloth or sponge to wipe them clean. They may not need much scrubbing at all, or there may be stuck on grime that needs some extra elbow grease to remove. Let the parts air dry or wipe dry with a clean dry cloth.
  • For light covers that are not removable, make a warm soapy mixture to spray on the fixture. Use a microfiber rag to wipe the cover down. The more often you do this, the easier it will be.
  • For glass fixture parts, you can use glass cleaner on them with a cotton rag or old shirt. This should help get the glass sparkling again!

How often should I clean the light fixtures?

As with everything in home cleaning, the more often you do something, the easier it will be. For light fixtures in the bathrooms, a consistent weekly 30 second dusting will go a long way. This will prevent the dust from getting caked on with all the built up moisture and grime that can develop in a bathroom. Preventing that buildup will make taking the light fixture apart for a warm soapy water soak much less frequent.

To perform a quick dusting of the fixture, you can use a high duster very easily. You can also just use a microfiber cloth to get the dust off. Once you have dusted, make sure to go over the floor with a quick sweep or vacuum, as you will knock the excess dust down to the floor.
