Cleaning deeply does not mean that you have to use harsh chemicals and soaps to get the job done. Below are some recipes for simple, all-natural cleaning solutions using just vinegar, baking soda, essential oils, lemon, and water.
1. Refrigerator Cleaner
Mix a ½ cup of baking soda into a bucket of hot water. Use a rag to clean inside the refrigerator with the solution.
2. Glass Cleaner
Mix 1 cup of high proof alcohol, ¼ cup white vinegar, and enough water to make a ½ gallon solution. Put in a spray bottle and use on windows and glass.
3. Toilet Cleaner
Put a ½ cup of baking soda and 10 drops of tea tree essential oil into your toilet. Add a ¼ cup of vinegar to toilet, and scrub the toilet while the mixture reacts. The essential oil will help to deodorize the toilet.
4. Cutting Board Cleaner
Use lemon juice or a cut open lemon and spread over the cutting board. Use coarse salt if harder scrubbing is required and reapply lemon or lemon juice afterwards.
5. Bleach Alternative
Mix 2 cups of water, 3 tablespoons of liquid soap, and up to 30 drops of tea tree oil together for a less harsh alternative to bleach.
6. Oven Cleaner
Use vinegar and salt (or baking soda for very deep oven cleaning) for an easy oven cleaner. Mix equal parts water and vinegar into a spray bottle, heat your oven to 125 degrees, and spray the vinegar mix on any caked on food in the oven. Pour salt over these areas. Let the oven cool, and then wipe away the solution and food from your oven.
7. Microwave Cleaner
Make a lemon juice and vinegar mix, and put it into a dish or cup and microwave for 2 minutes. Use the resulting steam buildup to wipe down the inside of the microwave.
