Clutter in your home can build up fast, and without a proper plan to manage it, there is no stopping it! There are certain household items that can be eliminated on a regular basis to help declutter your home. Read on for the top 12 household items to get rid of to help keep your house clean and clutter free.
– This may seem obvious, but dispose of old expired food before it piles up. Do a thorough run through of your cabinets and refrigerator – you will be surprised by how much old and inedible food has piled up, and how much more storage space you will gain!
– Another source of kitchen cabinet clutter is mismatched, warped, or disfigured food containers. Not only do they take up a bunch of space, they will also cause frustration when you are trying to find containers for leftovers or work lunches. Go through all your containers, and recycle what is no longer usable.
– Plastic and excess silverware will clutter up your drawers, and get in the way of your useful kitchen items. How many sets of plastic silverware do you need or even use? Take them into work to stash for a lunch party, or just recycle them!
– Old newspapers and magazines can take over your house. If the newspaper hasn’t been read yet, chances are it won’t be, and should be recycled. Old magazines can be nice to keep around, but how many do you really need? A big pile just gets lost with everything else, so try to just keep a few around at a time.
– Pens that no longer function need to be discarded immediately. It is very frustrating to be searching for a pen, only to find a pile that no longer function.
– Old cords are like old pens, you know they have no use, yet let them sit around anyways in case there is a future use for them. Chances are if you don’t know what the cord goes with, you no longer need it!
– Expired coupons are similar to your old newspapers. They lie around, cluttering up certain rooms in your house waiting to be used. Go through them all, and recycle any expired coupons or any coupons you are likely to not actually use.
– Old calendars have a tendency to accumulate like old magazines. Note any important information from your old calendar to your new one, then recycle it!
– Excess, old, or worn out shoes should be donated or disposed of to free up closet space. If you don’t use them, why let them clutter up your closet?
– Similar to old cords in your house, get rid of old or unused remote controls. If you haven’t used one recently, you probably won’t miss it.
– Product manuals can build up before you know it. Unless they are extremely organized, you probably won’t be able to find the manual you are looking for anyways. If you worried you won’t be able to figure something out, Google it!
– Last, but certainly not least, toss out your old and expired prescription medicine from you bathroom cabinets. Once the medicine expires, it is of no use to anyone, and is just one more thing a child or pet may accidentally get into.
